Babkak, Omar, and Kassim were Aladdin's childhood friends and "blood brothers" who were cut from the 1992 film along with their song "Babkak, Omar, Aladdin, Kassim". Despite this, Babkak and Kassim would go on to appear as a merchant duo in the animated series, however they are not depicted as friends of Aladdin and are only acquainted with each other. After many years, they would go on to appear as characters in the 2011 musical with their original roles intact.
Trivia[]
- Aladdin's father would be given the name Cassim and the melon merchant from the first film would be given the name Omar.
- The character of Amal could be considered a spiritual successor to Omar, as aside from their similar sounding names, Amal was a childhood friend of Aladdin who was abducted as a child along with many other street rats, leaving Aladdin alone, mirroring his lack of friends in the first film and the removal of his human friends.
