Summary[]
Aladdin, Jasmine, Abu, Iago and Genie head off on Carpet to open trade with Quirkistan, but are shocked to find Quirkistan a dreary wasteland; it turns out that the land is enchanted so that the weather and states of things are determined solely by the mood of King Mamood, Quirkistan's spoiled child king. He's currently brooding over missing his birthday party, and as a result, the whole land is doomed. So, with the prospect of a rich treasure reward, the gang tries to cheer up the king. Aladdin comes close with his risky sword-juggling act, but only Jasmine's storytelling engages Mamood. But Jasmine will have to stay there and entertain the King forever...
Plot[]
Our heroes are flying on Carpet to Quirkistan to open trade routes with Agrabah. Aladdin is excited to be on this diplomatic mission, but Jasmine tells him to take it seriously. He assures her they'll be together forever. They finally get to Quirkistan, and are shocked at the sorry state of the kingdom. It's a barren wasteland, with bare trees, no plants and bad weather. At that moment, an earthquake occurs, and Aladdin falls into the ground as it opens up beneath him.
Meanwhile, at the palace, Mamood, a spoiled boy king of Quirkistan, is yelling for his royal vizier, Wazeer. He tells him his milk has a speck in it. Wazeer tries to tell him it's only a little one, but relents when the king's anger temporarily makes the weather worse. As he gets the king another glass, he grouses to himself about how bad things have gotten for Quirkistan, and hopes that our heroes can fix everything.
Outside, Genie, as a steel beam, tries to keep the crevasse open long enough to rescue Aladdin. He falls down, but Carpet manages to scoop him up. The crevasse begins to close, but they finally make it out. While Aladdin and Jasmine happily embrace, Genie is sent flying into the air, and he lands on Iago.
When they finally get to the palace, Wazeer explains the terrible mood Mamood has been in since missing his birthday party, as everyone came without telling him about it. He reveals that Quirkistan is a magical land that is only beautiful and prosperous when the king is in a good mood, but barren when he's not. Aladdin tries asking what it's like when he's mad, but Wazeer tells him he doesn't want to know. Iago wonders why they'll find out anyway, with Genie, as a bass fiddle, playing an ominous chord. Wazeer reveals that he has promised a hug treasure as a reward, prompting Iago and Abu to beg Aladdin to accept. He does so, but only for diplomacy. They try various ways to brighten up Mamood, but he only gets bored, having seen their acts before. It is only when Aladdin juggles swords that the king's mood begins to brighten. But Genie makes the mistake of giving him too many swords, and he ends up pinning Mamood to the wall. The king is upset at the accidental assassination attempt, and the weather becomes bad again. Genie, Abu and Iago futilely try a kazoo and tap dancing routine, but that just enrages Mamood further and they get struck by lightning. Jasmine tries to apologize by saying they were only trying to help, but he only tells them to leave. She gets an idea by pretending to leave, but piques the king's interest with the story of a golden prince. It makes him happy, and the weather turns nice again.
After Jasmine finishes the story, he tells her that she has to tell him another story tomorrow. Wazeer rejoices that Quirkistan is (seemingly) saved, while Iago collects the reward. Unfortunately, to everyone else's shock, Wazeer announces that they must keep Jasmine. Aladdin angrily shouts that he would not leave Jasmine, not even for all the treasure in the world, much to the parrot's chagrin. The group tries to leave, but Mamood, now angry, declares that Jasmine must stay with him. They fight off the guards and escape, but this does not make things any better. Quirkistan is now a volcanic land with striking lightning. Jasmine blames herself for the trouble, but Aladdin assures her that it isn't her fault. Suddenly, a bolt of lightning hits Carpet, and they almost fall into a volcano, but manage to miss it.
As they are recovering, Genie, having tried to save them earlier, falls toward them as a statue. They laugh at this, but it doesn't last long when an angry mob of villagers, led by Haroun and his wife Sali'a, confront them and take them to some caves on the outskirts of the village. Aladdin explains the situation, and the villagers immediately blame him and his allies, suggesting giving Jasmine to the king. However, Sali'a stands up for Jasmine, saying she hasn't done anything wrong, and scolds them, saying it isn't right to force others to suffer as they are, despite their protests that their families will now starve. Suddenly one of the villagers shotus that Mamood has arrived on a horse. He demands they hand over Jasmine, otherwise (with the wind blowing up his and his horse's headdress to emphasize how ill-tempered he is right now) he will become angrier than he already is. Not wanting the villagers to suffer because of her, Jasmine decides to do as the king says. Aladdin, feeling that giving in to Mamood's demands will only enable his bratty behavior, tries to dissuade her, but Jasmine says that she was raised a princess, and as such, her needs come second to others, and leaves with him.
Aladdin and co. are trying to break Genie out of his stone prison, but aren't doing much due to being depressed at having lost Jasmine. Iago tries to perk them up by saying they will be able to buy their own palace with the treasure, but Aladdin says it'll all be meaningless without Jasmine, prompting the parrot to call him a wet blanket. This depression is briefly abated when Genie reminds him to break him out. After actually doing so, Aladdin finally snaps, angrily asking why he had to give Jasmine up because of the king's temper tantrums, but gets an idea when Genie tells him to go easy on Mamood, as he is oblivious to the misery he is causing.
The next morning, Mamood is asking Jasmine to tell him another story. This time, it is about how she and Aladdin met, but before she can begin, Aladdin shows up at the palace. The king prepares his dagger, but he tells him he only came to say goodbye. Though Mamood is wary of Aladdin's true intentions. he allows him and Jasmine to miserably say goodbye to each other, whilst professing their love. This starts to move the king, who realizes how badly he's ruining their lives by keeping them apart, not to mention the lives of his subjects with his selfishness, causing it to rain. Aladdin then asks if Mamood will allow Jasmine's parents to also say goodbye, confusing her. Genie then turns Abu and Iago (who protests, until Genie tells him it could be permanent) into Jasmine's parents, who also get in on the act. Genie then turns himself into more people who will miss Jasmine (her "grandfather", "village orphans" and "her pet wallaby"), while fake crying. The king, unable to bear the guilt and shame of his actions, allows Jasmine to leave. Wazeer believes he will be even more miserable than before, but is surprised when Mamood becomes happy upon realizing how good it felt to do something for someone else. He thinks of other good things to do. while Wazeer tells him to slow down. Genie, then turns Iago and Abu back to normal. The parrot is upset that they didn't get the treasure, but Genie tells him Aladdin has "his treasure". Iago, annoyed at the sentiment, starts to complain as the episode ends.
